Virtual Royal Air Force Exercise: Joint Warrior 2019

Ich bin auf jeden Fall dabei.

Virtual Royal Air Force
Exercise:
Joint Warrior 2019
Introduction
Welcome to the Virtual Royal Air Force’s Exercise Joint Warrior 2019. Hosted over
the first 3 weekends in November, Joint Warrior will test all aspects of military flying,
aimed at strengthening our bonds of international cooperation. Utilising a large block
of airspace in Scotland, the exercise will have a larger area to operate within than
last year’s Exercise Cobra Warrior, less encumbered by controlled airspace.
The exercise will involve air-to-air, air-to-surface, para drops, unprepared field
landings, air-to-air refuelling and AWACS/ISTAR. Long range A/S aircraft would be
unsuitable however.
The home bases for fast-jets are RAF Lossiemouth (EGQS) and RAF Leuchars
(EGQL). The capacity of these bases to accept heavy aircraft is extremely limited so
tankers, cargo aircraft etc. will be based at Prestwick (EGPK).
The exercise is based upon a fictional storyline. Any references or similarities to real
life situations or conflicts are purely coincidental and unintentional.

Background
The nation of Chekia comprises a group of islands situated in the northernmost extremities
of the Atlantic Ocean. Originally a Norwegian territorial archipelago, Chekia’s independence
is the result of a much disputed 2017 referendum, with wide aspersions of vote-rigging and
electoral fraud. With the Capital at Svalbard, the now insular and separatist nation spews a
rhetoric of separatism and xenophobia.
The Foreign Office has seen evidence that high-level Chekian officials are back-channeling
funds to multiple paramilitary organisations, promoting civil unrest in areas seen as easy
targets. The new dictatorship refuses to officially acknowledge this policy and attempts at
diplomatic resolutions have failed with talks breaking down at a recent summit in Bodo in
July. As such, the program of illegal annexation of isolated islands shows no sign of
stopping and despite UN security council resolutions and multiple sanctions from both the
EU bloc and USA, an armed conflict seems increasingly likely, if not inevitable.
Thus far, Jan Mayen and the Faroe Islands have fallen under the control of militias loyal to
the Chekian regime. NATO intelligence suggests that attempts at further expansion are
highly likely. Iceland is considered to be too remote, too large and too populous for the
regime to take and hold effectively. However, the outlying Shetland Isles in Scotland are
small with poor response times from Royal Air Force stations in the region. Strategically
located airfields on the islands would put Chekian bombers in range of the northern UK
cities of Aberdeen and Inverness, were they to establish a foothold.
Exercises conducted by forces based at Vagar (EKVG), in the faroe islands have steadily
grown more ostentatious and brash in recent months since the annexation of the with
incursions into UK airspace causing record numbers of QRA launches this year.
In response to these provocations, NATO has organised its own series of exercises in the
region. Ostensibly, these exercises are to promote international cooperation and complete
joint training objectives. However, the primary intent is to provide a ‘show of force’ in the
region and ultimately the units involved would form the core of a NATO force to defend the
UK should it be require

Klingt gut! vUSAF wird auch dabei sein. Ich hoffe, es wird diesmal etwas mehr "Futter" für die A2G-Fraktion geben. Letztes Jahr war es diesbezüglich ziemlich mau....
